“Doctor Sleep” continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and newcomer Kyliegh Curran star in the supernatural thriller, directed by Mike Flanagan, from his own screenplay based upon the novel by Stephen King.
Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.
Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before-at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.
“Doctor Sleep” stars Ewan McGregor (“Star Wars: Episodes I, II & III,” “T2 Trainspotting”) as Dan Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson (the “Mission: Impossible” films, “The Greatest Showman”) as Rose the Hat, and Kyliegh Curran, in her major feature film debut, as Abra. The main ensemble cast also includes Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Bruce Greenwood, Jocelin Donahue, Alex Essoe and Cliff Curtis.
Trevor Macy and Jon Berg produced the film, with Roy Lee, Scott Lumpkin, Akiva Goldsman and Kevin McCormick serving as executive producers.
Flanagan’s behind-the-scene creative team was led by director of photography Michael Fimognari (“The Haunting of Hill House”), production designers Maher Ahmad (“Get Hard”) and Elizabeth Boller (“Hush”), and costume designer Terry Anderson (“Den of Thieves”). The music score is composed by The Newton Brothers (“The Haunting of Hill House”).
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, An Intrepid Pictures/Vertigo Entertainment Production, A Mike Flanagan Film, “Doctor Sleep.” Slated for release in North America on November 8, 2019, and globally beginning on October 30, 2019, “Doctor Sleep” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

  • CHILLLS

  • "General Kenobi... You are a bold one"

  • everyones sayin random shi and im like who dafuk wrote redrum on the wall

  • SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!

  • They should have recast Danny Lloyd, Shelley Duvall & Jack Nicholson, I’m so pissed!!! I’m sure they could have got at least 2 of the 3!!!

    • Danny Lloyd hasn't been acting on anything for a long time and I'm pretty sure the other two don't appear, this is over 20 years after the shining.

  • Two or three people like us... could Jack shine the whole time, and he just didn’t know it???

    • On the book Danny says that his father may be able to shine, he thought it could be genetic but he wasn't sure about it. He also talks about a lot how during his life he felt like some people had very small shine capabilities.

  • I will see two movies in theaters for this entire year. It Chapter 2, and Doctor Sleep. God bless you, Stephen King. What an amazing and gifted storyteller!

  • The piano sound scares me more than the movie

  • How about we just forget the gunslinger ever happened and build the Stephen king cinematic universe with it and dr sleep ect.

  • November 8... the first anniversary of the Camp Fire....just gonna have to go see that...

  • Heere's Obi!

  • For the record, the only "flashback" that's taken directly from Kubrick's movie is the blood pouring out of the elevator. The other scenes, like of Danny riding his Big Wheel through the hotel's hallways and Mrs. Massey (yes, the naked lady had a name) in the hotel room bathtub, are recreations. The filmmakers know how much Stephen King detests Kubrick's movie, but they wanted to put in a tribute to it, as it's one of the most popular horror movies of all time.

  • Obi Wan uses the shining rather than the Force! He even has his Obi Wan beard in a couple of scenes. I always liked Ewan with a beard. It looks good on him. There's a great pic of Ewan encountering Liam Neeson at a film festival, and them pretending to have an Obi Wan/Qui Gon lightsaber duel. I enjoyed the book, although I felt it was rather carelessly written -- several fairly glaring continuity issues, for instance. "The Shining" is a great book, and "Doctor Sleep" is a middling follow-up, which King probably wrote just so fans would quit asking him what happened to Danny Torrance. (I would also like to find out what happened to Charlie McGee, the heroine of "Firestarter".) I admit I didn't picture Ewan McGregor as Danny, who of course goes by Dan as an adult, but when the casting was announced, I thought he was a great choice. Abra in the book is white, and blonde, so it's an interesting choice to make her non-white in the movie. Rebecca Ferguson is a good actress and certainly pretty enough to play Rose. Sometimes movie versions of "eh" books can be really good, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

  • So is this a sequel to the book or the movie?

    • @Tyler's world That would be rather difficult since in the movie Holleran's dead but the hotel's intact while in the book Holleran's alive but the hotel's a crater.

    • Both

  • The Legendary Jack Nicholson to make appearance as a ghost in the movie and will probably appear and contribute to the movie

  • Um, why Abra is black? Didn't they red the book? Haven't they seen her description? WTF? Why change something that os good already?

  • Does anyone know the music for this trailer?

  • Man I really do love red rum

  • Lets hope Stephen King writes a third Shining novel in which Danny Torrance is finally given some closure and happiness.

  • Revenge is not the way of the Jedi.

  • Why is it that we only see Danny Lloyd in ONE movie but in any others, especially this of Doctor Sleep?

  • REDRUM

  • Is the book any good?

  • I don't get it

  • What's a song from ending this video 2:25

    • Main title theme from The Shining.

  • You member the shining? Member?

  • Hello there!

  • I hope Stephen King doesn’t like this because then it’ll be good.

  • bleh... the book was not that great anyway, King is becoming a cash money maker he will say he doesnt like the adaptation but he cashes on them all the time (and im a huge king fan but lately it's become hard to love the man seriously)

  • "So Mr. McGregor, what movie did you say you wanted to star in?" "You remember that kid character, you know the one from that classic 1977 story. I want to do a sequel where the kid is all grown up and is disillusioned with life, lost sight of what's important. Then the spirits from his childhood come back and cause chaos that he needs to stop. He also teaches a kid how these supernatural beings work and becomes a father figure, learning a lesson about life in the process." "Sounds good." [makes a phone call] "Hello Disney? Yes, he agreed to be in Christopher Robin." "Wait what?"

  • It's not going to be good I'm letting u know now. Tbh tho why do they keep black washing characters. Ugh

    • Finally I'm not alone in seeing this rubbish.

  • How will they fight Rose and her followers with psychic powers

  • You can tell it's too over the top. A big budget movie that's going to go nowhere. Just like the remake of pet cemetary.

  • " IILUMINATUSSSSS "

  • It's so weird to see the shots imitating Kubrick's. Despite all the excuses like 'King's book was a direct sequel to Shining so does our movie' they look like a cheap cosplay of a classic film which lives its own life apart from King's novel. Just like those sequels to Psycho or Space Odyssey 2001 - they all tried to recreate some vibes and visuals of original works but turned out to be lame and fake.

  • 1:12 Debió ser Evan diciendo "Hello There"

  • I must be the only one who thinks that Ewan McGregor's American accent is pretty shaky, because he keeps doing that same one, and I've never seen one complaint.

    • I think it's time for all the british & australians celebrities to speak like british & australians in Hollywood movies

  • The shining part 2 lmao

  • The books are amazing. Let's jope they can hold up... So excited!!

  • Little does the shining know, Sith are his speciality

  • Omg stop making good ass movies. First Shazam than endgame. And now this along with joker and it chapter 2. I am running out of money

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeeee bitchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the shining 2 yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • for those of you who want to see a stephen king cameo... i wouldnt get your hopes up considering there going off the version that kubrick created. and king hates that adaptation ALOT

  • 2:05 is Trainspotting 3

  • God I hope they don’t use a bunch of cheap jump scares and ruin a sequel to one of the greatest horror movies of all time that didn’t even need any jump scares to be truly horrifying.

    • Tom That’s what I like to hear! Definitely a bit less skeptical now

    • its mike flanagan he is the best horror director working today imo and definitely rarely uses jump scares he usually just lets the threat stay in frame and leave the audience to get scared

  • I love how he as a kid had brown eyes and now he has blue ones nice continuity there not a cash grab at all lmao

  • s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=68027104493913690581

  • Oh my god it's so weird seeing Ewan older and without the beard...

  • “Wendy, I’m HOME”
